Our vision is to have a Youth Sport Hub in every school in Cochrane.
Just like learning to read and write, all children and youth have the right to develop movement and sport skills in an affordable, inclusive and safe environment. The Sport Hub model brings sport and physical activity stakeholders together to create physical activity experiences that support all aspects of healthy child development.
What is a Sport Hub?
The ultimate goal of the Youth Sport Hub is to deliver physical literacy enriched programming to students and eventually offer a pathway through the school system, extending into community and club sport.
The Sport Hub is based on the Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity framework. It offers sport programming that is inclusive, affordable, accessible and supports a more physically active lifestyle.
The Sport Hub is a collaboration between Sport 4 Life Cochrane, local schools, Sport Organizations, and community partners.
How does it work?
Sport 4 Life Cochrane facilitates the delivery of multi-sport opportunities by connecting schools, local sport and physical activity clubs, recreation facilities and funders.
Programs are offered during school, after school and in the evenings for the community.
Where does the Sport Hub take place?
We are proud to be piloting the first Cochrane Sport Hub with École Notre-Dame Des Vallées thanks to funding support from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. During the fall of 2019 we were able to offer the following sports once a week for 4 weeks: Rugby, Orienteering, Badminton and Soccer.
Help us achieve our goal of hosting a Youth Sport Hub in every school in Cochrane!
